[Archbishop Duke visits Kamloops IRS]
[Between Norway House and Oxford House, a distance of some two hundred miles, there were many portages, some as long as three miles : on this particular portage, there was a railroad track : goods were loaded on to a small car which then had to be pulled : since there were no bridges one had to hold back just as hard going down hill as [one] had to pull going up]
[Between Norway House and Oxford House there were no stopping places, that is no houses or communities : you stopped whenever it was time to eat or sleep by the side of the lake or river]
