Deschâtelets-Notre-Dame-du-Cap Archives

The Deschâtelets-NDC Archives are the archives of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), a Catholic organization. The OMI arrived in Canada in 1841 and in subsequent years administered fifty-seven residential schools. The archives houses two large collections: the historical collections of the Notre-Dame du Cap province (or religious jurisdiction) in Quebec and the Deschâtelets collection, comprising the administrative records of the OMI. The archives describes its role as "to acquire, process, conserve, improve accessibility and disseminate the documents created and received by the Oblates of the Notre-Dame-du-Cap province as part of their missions and activities." In 2011, the NDC Provincial Archives left Montreal, where it had long been located, and moved to Richelieu, Quebec.
