Curatorial Comment
This three-page document provides a brief but detailed account of the school and its daily operations. In addition to school activities, the document mentions the monthly visits students and their families had – which were revoked if the student ran away from the school – and older students making clothing for their younger siblings in their spare time. Most likely written by Jean Telfer, a white staff member and UBC graduate, this document provides a limited perspective with racist assumptions and beliefs implied or stated throughout.
