Document consists of minutes of a meeting of the Technical Implementation Group for the Residential School Healing Fund.
At its general meeting in 1994, the national body of The United Church of Canada (the General Council) resolved to establish a Residential School Healing Fund, with the goal of raising $1 million through voluntary donations. A "Technical Implementation Group" was established to facilitate the work. The responsibility for developing criteria for disbursement of the funds was vested in the All Native Circle Conference of the Church, and the Division of Native Ministries of BC Conference. The Healing Fund was primarily intended "to promote healing among those who bear the scars of the residential school experience, and their families." A parallel goal of the resolution was to create educational materials to be disseminated through the Church, and to encourage the development of curricula in the public school system.
